VISION

Our vision is to amplify the voices of artists affected by conflict around the world, looking beyond political discord, to build common ground through our shared and lived human experiences.

MISSION

Art Represent is the first platform dedicated to the creative & economic empowerment of artists affected by conflict worldwide. We work to develop new ways of making their works accessible while engaging global audiences in creating social change using art as a vital tool.

Method

Working with artists and partners around the globe, Art Represent has launched impact projects with 10,000+ participants, and successfully garnered visibility for communities in conflict through local and international press.

We strive to design new approaches to building understanding and education through contemporary art. We achieve this through:

  1. Empowering artists affected by conflict in developing their individual creative practices by building an infrastructure of support including an e-commerce platform, and a network of vital resources from funding opportunities, legal aid, artist residencies, to new technologies.

  2. Delivering measurable impact through dynamic cultural projects under our innovative Creative Impact Programme (CIP), and building partnerships with cross-sector organisations.

  3. Raising awareness of conflict regions through our inclusive educational We Represent Toolkits aimed at young people, enabling them to practice values of empathy, tolerance, & inclusivity.

CURATION

We choose our artists on the basis of their talent rather than fetishising them for their personal history.

The artists we deal with come from varied circumstances. Some have been affected by violent conflict directly; others are migrants/refugees from communities struggling to achieve positive peace. Some artists address conflict directly in their work, others choose to omit such themes from their artistic practice completely.

Together, our artists contribute to a complex dialogue surrounding issues of identity, conflict and social upheaval... posing as many questions as they provide answers.
