nyandak

As an artist Tsering Nyandak is intent on finding his own modes of expression, which he believes are deeply integrated with his identity and concept of self. His works are observations of social phenomena and personal reflections on life in Lhasa and the changing political landscape of contemporary Tibet. Imbued with metaphor, and filled with subtle references to Tibetan culture, Nyandak’s paintings present the complexities of life in contemporary Tibet.

Born in Lhasa in 1974, Nyandak lived and studied in the Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamsala (India). After returning to Tibet in 1999 he studied under Tsewang Tashi. Nyandak is one of the founding members of the Gedun Choephel Artists’ Guild, and has participated in various solo and group exhibitions in China, Germany, UK, Nepal and USA.
